Sally Vinyard and Friends

Friends from Sally's first tour in Saigon as Housing Officer for OICC RVN (Officer in Charge of construction, Republic of Vietnam) met on a reunion cruise in September, 2005, to celebrate her upcoming 85th birthday. All were U.S. Navy employees who served between 1966 and 1973. Seated from left are Kathy Sherry, Judy Abercrombie (who stepped in for Polly Oakley who passed away recently), Sally Vinyard, Sherry Sheer McKenna and Diane Estrada. Standing from left are Brenda Pafford Erickson, Diane Johnson Brem, Grace Roberts Plummer, Elizabeth Cameron Henry and Susan Phillips Conley-Mueller. These friends have met at reunions several times over the years both in the U.S. and in Europe.

Editor's Note:

Sally Vinyard's friends from her 1973-1975 tour in Vietnam are not pictured here as many of them were among the 37 DAO (Defense Attache Office) civilian women who died in the C5A Babylift plane crash on April 4, 1975. We are grateful to Sally and all who sacrificed so much for the Babylift children.
