Hello all,
My name is Maria and I'm 32 yrs old. I am born 14 of January 1974 (first they said 14 of February but then they changed) and the only thing I know is that I was left outside an orphanage in Saigon in 1975. In my passport it says birthplace "Huang Loi Ward" and my Vietnamese name is Mai Thu Ha. I then had the opportunity to become adopted to a family in Sweden. I was one of the small children on the first authorized Babylift flight (C5A Galaxy) which crashed. After the crash I came to the U.S and a family there where I stayed for one month before I finally arrived in Trollhattan, Sweden.
I do not think I have really realised how lucky I was to survive that crash. Since I do not remember anything from that time, I have only been told by my parents about it and read about it as well; a terrible thing that happened for more than 30 years ago. I have not been thinking of it so very much until now when I happened to search for other adopted children from Vietnam and found this very interesting Vietnam Babylift web site.
I still have not read through the whole web site but I certainly will!
Today I live in Lund (a city in the southern part of Sweden) with my little son, Samuel.
It would be interesting to get some contact with someone else who also was on that babylift flight.
