Vietnam Babylift Personal Stories

Marion Barth

I am the lady on the box who gave all the volunteers their instructions before going to the plane and getting a child (baby) to take care of. I also was the first on the planes to ascertain what was needed and I offloaded the sick and injured first. As Babylift morphed into Operation Freedom Lift and Operation New Life I was involved. I have the Stars and Strips Newspaper from that time as well as official pictures. I never knew that there was a web site; my son informed me during a conversation and was surprised that I had proof of what was done, including pictures. It never dawned on me that anyone was interested. My husband, Major Joseph V. Barth, was commander of the Law Enforcement Branch of the Security Police Squadron at Clark and was on the planes that left Clark AFB to go to Vietnam to pick up various people. It is too long a story to tell in this short area. If anyone is interested I would be glad to talk to them. My husband will be unable to talk since he is at the present time in hospice because of heart failure.
