New York Journal
Lana Noone's Vietnam "Operation Babylift" interview for the New York Journal News will soon be posted on their website blog at:
The article will be published on November 11, 2007 and will be available on the newspaper's website after that date.
Lana's portion of the article includes a photo of Artist/Vietnam Veteran Bernie Duff's painting titled "Heather's Homecoming Day".
The painting was created from a photo of Heather Constance Noone's arrival home to Byron and Lana Noone via the Vietnam Babylift, on April 23, 1975.
Sadly, Heather died just weeks after her arrival...on May 17, 1975.
Byron and Lana subsequently adopted their daughter Jennifer Nguyen Noone, via Babylift, on June 5, 1975, and their son, Jason Paik Noone, from Korea on December 11, 1979.
The family's book, "Global Mom: Notes from a Pioneer Adoptive Family", by Lana Noone, with Byron, Jennie, and Jason Noone was published in 2003, and Lana Noone and Vietnam Veteran Charlie Wilber created the www.Vietnambabylift.org website in the same year.
The newspaper's blog will detail reporter Nicole Neroulias upcoming trip to Vietnam with a group of Vietnam Veterans and others who are involved in volunteer work there.
A second painting by Bernie Duff, "Welcome Home", which shows President Ford greeting the first Babylift arrivals in California, April, 1975, will also be highlighted in the article.
This painting was unveiled at the Ford Presidential Museum on May 22, 2007 and is now part of the Ford Museum's Permanent Exhibit Collection.
