Hello Lana,
This is a wonderful web site. My name is Phillip R. Wise, Retired from the
USAF. I was a crew member aboard the C5-A Galaxy that crashed in the rice
paddies in Saigon South Vietnam on April 4th 1975. I was the only surviving
crew member that made it out of the lower cargo section.
I like to thank God for all of his blessings, and having his hands on me on
that tragic day. He blessed many of us on that day. I was an areomedical evacution
technician assigned to transport orphans from Tan Son Nhut Air Base to Travis
Air Force Base CA.
Unfortunately we never made to Travis Air Force Base. I woke up two days later
in the intensive care unit at Clark Air Base Philippines. My injuries were
extensive and my recovery time was well over six months. Operation Babylift
was a humanitarian mission that I was proud to be a part of.
I had the honor of meeting Lana Noone and her lovely family for the first
time in the fall of 2001, at an award ceremony in Virginia Beach VA, honoring
Veterans in the Military during Fleet week. We were given awards for our participations
with Operation Babylift. Lana, Byron and I became friends instantly, and shared
stories about the adopted kids that touched our lives.
Thank you Lana Noone for all you do, because the good Lord has his hands on
you too.
Phil Wise,
Survivor, Operation Babylift
C5-A Galaxy Crewmember
